First death in Assam due to COVID-19

One person has died due to corona virus in Assam. This is the first case of death in the state. Minister of Health of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the total number of positive cases in Assam increased to 28 on Friday. The minister said by tweeting that the hospitalized patient of Hailakandi district died today in Silchar Medical College Hospital.

The name of the deceased was Faijul Haque Barbhyan and was 65 years old. The minister said that his other health standards were stable but there was a lack of oxygen in the blood and he was admitted to the ICU for better monitoring.

 The person was confirmed to have been coronavirus positive on Tuesday night and  had attended  Tablighi Jamaat in Nizamuddin, New Delhi. He also had a travel history to Saudi Arabia earlier. Sarma expressed his deepest condolences and prayers for the family, mourning his death.

 Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy said that the funeral of the deceased will be done as per Covid-19 protocol and information related to it will be released later. After new cases were reported in Dhubri last night, now the number of positive patients has increased to 29 in the state.
